Bearing Edge Level/Cutting/Recutting

Frondelli USA's Bearing Edge Services are unmatched in the drum industry. We are experts in the restoration and accurate reprofiling of vintage bearing edges, armed with the correct tooling and knowledge for the task at hand, particularly the highly sought-after 30° roundover edges so popular on vintage *Ludwig and *Slingerland drums. We will also cut new edges on your raw shells, if you are building your own kit. The profile will be suggested/selected according to your needs and desired tone and response. All work is performed with the same care and attention that Frondelli USA drums and kits are noted for. DON'T TRUST YOUR VALUABLE DRUMS TO JUST ANYONE! Remember- once wood is removed, it is gone forever.

***NOTE: Prices are PER DRUM (two sides). Therefore, single-headed drums are half of price shown.

Standard edge profile on all non-rering shells is 45° w/slight 45° countercut

***NOTE: Many vintage drums require extra work e.g. repair of ply and/or reinforcement ring delamination and/or split grain, extra leveling, gap filling, edge hardening and/or recontouring of the entire edge profile. The charge for this is independent of the charge for bearing edge cut/recut. Each drum requires an individual evaluation and price quote.

***NOTE: Due to the nature of the material and extra care and polishing labor required, there is a 20% upcharge for acrylic shell bearing edges and snare beds.

Snare Beds

$45.00 per drum. This is a must if edges are recut. Standard snare bed is Wide/Shallow (6" wide x 3/32" deep, similar to Ludwig). This is the profile that offers the best combination of snare sensitivity and tone, and is wide enough to accomodate 42-strand snare units, which are again becoming widely popular. Other profiles available upon request (e.g. Narrow/Deep, Ultra-Shallow/Wide for Extended Snares, etc.)

Layout

$2.00/lug. $6.00 for L-arm tom brackets. $10.00 for through-hole tom brackets. $20.00 for BD brackets or rail consolettes. $10.00/side for spurs.

Hole Drilling

$2.00/hole up to 1/2". $4.00/hole for larger holes up to 2". Large vent holes are $20.00ea.

***NOTE: Due to the nature of the material and extra care and labor required, there is a 10% upcharge for acrylic shell drilling.

Please take note that all holes are accurately bored using only the Irwin® UniBit ™ system. No twist-type drill bits are employed.

Bass Drum Hoop Inlay Grooves

1/2" : $20.00/hoop. All other sizes up to 1": $30.00/hoop

All inlay grooves are precision-cut to EXACT width. Please note that we DO NOT supply pearl hoop strips, however we will install them for you at the cost of $5.00/hoop if you supply them with the hoops. For pearl hoop strips, we highly recommend PRECISION DRUM CO. -or- JAMMIN' SAM.

Rewrapping/Refinishing

Because all drums, wraps and finishes have their idiosyncracies, which can tremendously affect the complexity of the job, all services of this type must be quoted individually. Please E-mail us with the sizes and manufacturer of your drums, as well as EXACTLY what you would like done. We can do pearl wrap, wood veneer, lacquer, or oil finishes. We will supply the wrap for rewrap jobs, however, we will also happily apply customer-supplied wrap, as well as apply wrap to customer-prepped shells, or both if you wish. If, for any reason, you wish to purchase your own pearl wrap materials, again, we highly recommend PRECISION DRUM CO. -or- JAMMIN' SAM.

Assembly

BASS DRUMS- 18" & 20": $150.00 22"-26": $200.00 SNARE DRUMS (all): $150.00 TOMS: $75.00 FLOOR TOMS: $100.00

***NOTE: All reworked complete drums will have their hardware cleaned up, all lug inserts and tension rod threads cleaned and lubed, lugs repacked as necessary, and all mounting screws treated with LocTite 222 ThreadLocker to prevent loosening.

***All shells sent in for repair must be COMPLETELY stripped of heads and all removable hardware, or there will be a charge for Disassembly/Reassembly. We will not perform woodwork with hardware attached because it is difficult to properly manipulate the shell and also due to the invasive nature of wood dust. In addition, we simply do not want to damage any hardware.***

***NOTE: These prices may vary slightly due to the complexity of certain hardware, mounts, strainers, etc., and are meant as a general guideline ONLY. Acrylic shells are 10% higher due to the extra care required during handling and final polishing necessary.

Vintage Drum Add-ons and Repros

Have a vintage drum kit and missing that one hard-to-find drum? How about an entire repro kit? We can't go back in time and get it for you, but we can hunt down the hardware, and using new finish wraps and Keller Vintage Maple, Vintage Mahogany or 6-ply Maple shells, we can fabricate the add-on drums for your favorite *Ludwig, *Slingerland, *Gretsch or *Rogers kit! E-mail for details.

For any other work you require, such as complete restoration, hole filling and/or repair, shell cutting, single-double head conversions, tom-to-snare conversions, etc., please e-mail for a price quote. Please provide as many details as possible. The more details you provide, the more accurate the quote with no hidden surprises later (and we ALL hate hidden surprises!).
